The Pentecostals believe that God speaks through words of wisdom and words of knowledge. They believe a word of wisdom is special revelation from God to provide wisdom in a time of need. They believe a word of knowledge is divine revelation to know what God is doing in another’s soul or body. In effect, Pentecostals believe in ‘wizardry’. In the Bible, the word ‘wizard’ literally means ‘a knowing one’. However, supernatural spiritual gifts no longer exist today. Words of wisdom and knowledge given directly to people did occur in the early church in the Apostolic Church. It is true that in the Apostolic Church, this was a necessary gift that was used to bring the Word of God in the church until the Bible (New Testament) was formed. Upon completion of the New Testament, this gift of wisdom and knowledge ceased. The ultimate fulfillment of words of wisdom and knowledge is the ability of God’s people to spiritually know and interpret God’s Word.
