On the Last Day, at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the Voice of the Archangel is heard. ‘Arch’ means chief or first. Angel simply means ‘messenger’ (which could be God Himself, spiritual angels or human messengers). It is important to understand that Jesus Christ, as God, is the chief messenger (archangel) of the Gospel. The only archangel named in the Bible is ‘Michael’, which is a symbolic name for Jesus Christ. Jesus came preaching the Gospel. The word for Gospel literally means ‘good message’.
