The Parable of the Net in the Sea points to the Last Day. On the Last Day, the separation of the good and bad fish is a picture of judgment and salvation. The gathering of every kind of fish underscores the nature of the Last day. The Last Day is a ‘general’ resurrection. God’s people are resurrected to eternal life. But, the unsaved are resurrected to ‘judgment’ and eternal separation from the presence of God. This is a place of outer darkness and a furnace of fire.
