What is the Mark of the Beast? Many believe that it is a literal mark, chip, tattoo, card or other similar device that would be placed into the right hand or forehead. The purpose of this mark would presumably be to allow people to buy or sell merchandise. However, this is not what the mark of the beast is. It is important to properly interpret Scripture and recognize the symbolic nature of much of the Bible. When Scripture is compared with Scripture (1 Cor 2:13), the true meaning of the mark of the beast can be discerned. Please review the below you tube video or the text below to study what the mark of the beast is. The mark of the beast is a symbol of being under the ownership of Satan / Antichrist. The forehead represents the influence on a person’s mind, while the right hand represents the will of a person. Similarly, the name represents key characteristics of the person named. To have the mark of the beast’s name (Rev 14:11) means that the unsaved person has the characteristics of the beast.

- Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. (Act 17:29)
- The Greek word for ‘craftsmen’ is the word ‘technites’ from where we get the word ‘technician’. The craftsmen of Babylon are ‘technically’ very good at building things. In Heb 11:10, we find that God is referred to as the builder of the heavenly city. But, in Acts 19:24-25, Acts 19:38, we find at the riot at Ephesus that those who made idols of Diana were also referred to by the same word technites (translated as ‘occupation’). Also, in Acts 17:29, we find the same use of this word at Athens referring to those who make idols. Finally, in Acts 18:3, we find that Paul and Aquila had the ‘craft’ (technites) of tentmaking. So, we find that this word can be used in both a positive and negative sense. In Rev 18:22, it would similarly have a positive connotation insofar as Christians are sharing the Gospel, but also a negative connotation for those who would be building a church with wood, hay and stubble (1 Cor 3:12).

Right Hand
Summary
- Right hand – represents the control or will of a person
- To be given into the hand of another meant that the other person now had control. Many times, when a nation lost to another in battle, it was referred to as being delivered into the hand of the victor (see Jud 11:32, 13:1, 15:12‑13, 16:23‑24, 1 Chr 14:10, 1 Ki 15:18, 2 Sam 8:1, Ps 37:33, 71:4, 106:41). Therefore, it is clear that the hand in the Bible can be viewed as referring to the will of an individual. If one nation lost to another, they were now under the control or will of the victor.
- God’s hand, notably His right hand, we see that it refers to His bringing about salvation for His people.
- Ps 44:3 – when referring to Israel being delivered from Egypt, we find that it was not by their own sword did Israel possess the promised land, but it was by God’s right hand, and His arm and the light of His presence that He did favor them. In other words, the salvation that is typified by being brought into the promised land (see Heb 3-4), is referred to as God’s work by His right hand.
- Ps 20:6 – the saving strength of His right hand. In fact, there are many other places where God’s right hand points to the will of God in salvation ‑ Ps 44:3, Jud 7:6, Ps 10:12, 20:6-8, 28:5, 78:54, 89:21, 98:1-4, 106:41‑42, 136:12, Ex 13:16, 15:6,16‑17, Jer 18:1‑6, 32:21,Ez 3:14, Ex 6:6, Acts 11:21, Lk 1:66.
