In Dan 11:29-45, the King of the North is a type of the Antichrist. Dan 11 contains prophecy that covers the time period from the Medo-Persian Empire (c. 536 B.C.) to the Last Day. In Dan 11:29, there is a transition in the prophecy that moves the reader to the rise of the Antichrist during the Great Tribulation, that occurs just before the Last Day.
