What is the Image of the Beast ?

What exactly is the image of the Beast?  We find this image discussed in Rev 13:14-15.  This image is ‘made’ by the False Prophet and all those who do not worship this image are killed (similar to Daniel and his companions being thrown into the fiery furnace of Daniel 3).  This image of the beast is given life (literally, spirit) in order that the image may speak.  When Scripture is compared to Scripture (1 Cor 2:13), we find that the image of the beast refers to the false Christian church during the Great Tribulation.  This false Christian church has become very worldly and demands worship by all those in the church.  Worship of this image includes obeying and the true Christians who do not obey the church are spiritually ‘killed’.
