One of the most striking characteristics of Goliath is his defiant reproach of God and His people. Goliath was a very sinful champion of the Philistines. Giants in the Bible were extremely tall and powerful people. Even in modern times, there is much evidence of giants who existed on the earth. However, giants in the Bible also have an important spiritual meaning. They symbolize proud, mighty adversaries (enemies) of God’s people who are used to test the faith of God’s people.
