Bible

As the Prophet (Acts 3:22-23, Lk 24:19, Lk 13:33), Jesus Christ is the Word of God. By the Spirit of Christ, the prophets and apostles wrote the Bible (1 Pet 1:10-11, 2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:19-21). Jesus told us that His words are spirit and they are life (John 6:63). It is by the hearing of the word of God (i.e., the Bible) that His people are saved and are made holy (Ro 10:17, 1 Pet 2:2, 1 Thess 2:13, John 17:17).

But, in the churches today, there are many divergent opinions on what the Bible actually teaches.  This is primarily the result of two reasons.  Either one is not filled with the Holy Spirit and cannot understand the spiritual truths of the Bible (Mat 13:10-17) they are indeed a Christian and have been deceived by false teachers in the church since they do not know how to properly study and interpret the Bible (2 Tim 2:15, 1 Cor 2:13, John 6:63).   There are many denominations, independent churches and other organizations that teach significantly diverse doctrine including the doctrines of salvation and holiness (sanctification).  Because the Bible’s teaching concerning the last days contain a significant amount of allegorical language, there exists very diverse teachings about the return of Jesus Christ and the world’s conditions and events that occur just before His return.

The need to diligently listen to Jesus (i.e., the Word of God) is underscored in Acts 3:22-23, wherein we are warned that ‘every soul which not hear that Prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.’  In  other words, one who does not respect the authority of the Bible and desires to submit under the word of God is symptomatic of a person who is not saved.
