- The word ‘wings’ (Hebrew: kanaph, H3671) occurs a little more than 100 times in the Old Testament and is often used in conjunction with birds spreading their wings. A similar word (H83, eber, pinions) is also used 3 times I the Bible. From a negative viewpoint, we find that overspreading wings of a bird was used as an idol (Deut 4:17). It is also used in a negative manner regarding Judah seeking refuge in the great wings of Egypt (Eze 17:3-7). In Dan 9:27, we find that trusting in abominations rather than the overspreading wings of God, shall make Jerusalem desolate.
- From a positive viewpoint, we find that the spreading of wings can represent salvation / Protection that God provides – Ex 19:4, Ps 17:8, Ps 36:7, Ps 57:1, Ps 61:4, Ps 63:7, Ps 91:4, Is 8:8, Ruth 2:11-12, Eze 5:3, Eze 16:8, Hag 2:12, Zech 8:23, Mal 4:2, Mat 23:37.

- The cherubims that were above the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies each had 2 overspreading wings (1 Ki 6:24-27, 2 Chr 3:11-13, Ex 25:20, etc.).

He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. - Tribe (kindred) – This Greek word (phule) points to those of kin (blood relationship, race), for example ‘tribe of Israel’ – Luk 2:36, Act 13:21, Rom 11:1, Phi 3:5, Heb 7:13-14 (2), Rev 7:5-8 (13), Mat 19:28, Luk 22:30 (2), Jam 1:1, Rev 7:4, Rev 21:12, Rev 1:7, Rev 11:9 (2), Rev 13:7, Rev 5:9, Rev 14:6

- Peoples (Gr: laos) – This represents a group that is connected by one cause or purpose. An important example is that all true Christians from whatever background, creed, language, culture, race, etc. become one people as Christians (Rev 21:3, Heb 8:10, 2 Cor 6:18, Hos 1:10, 2:23, 1 Pet 2:10, Ro 9:25, Mat 1:231, Ro 8:29, etc.). A people could also be a group of individuals that rally behind a political figure, a society that is governed by a ruler, a social cause or any other reason by which they are unified.
- Nations – The Greek word for nations is ‘ethnos’, which means a group of people who have a common ethnic (or cultural) background. This word is used extensively to refer to ‘gentiles’, which were those who were outside of the commonwealth of Israel (Eph 2:11-12). This word should not be used in the context of people who live in a particular country unless the people of the country are all of the same ethnicity.
